The lyrics of this song came at a time when I was seeking God’s will and purpose for my life back in 2020. Although God had previously pressed on my heart years before to write music for the Lord, which would uplift and encourage those who listen, both my flesh and mind brushed it off.

Although I had good intentions to write Christian Music, I did not pursue it. Out of fear - fear of stepping out into the unknown fear of failure and fear of being judged, I disobeyed the voice of God.

However, Jesus promises us this in Isaiah 41:10 which says “Fear not, for I am with you…I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

I didn't have to fear because God said that He would be with me and that He would uphold me. This promise has given me great comfort and strength to step out in faith and obey His voice. If God is for me, then who can be against me?

- Proverbs 16:9 -

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps“

Your Will, Your way, Yahweh

God will sometimes close doors around us to get our attention, lead us back to Him and direct us on the path of His perfect will, plan and purpose for our lives...In my case, work doors began to close. Even when we don't understand all that's going on, He calls us to trust Him with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. When we trust and submit to Him, He makes our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

The one thing that stayed the same and constant as things around me were changing (and wasn’t going the way I had expected or had hoped for), was God - He is the same God yesterday, today and forevermore. All I knew to do was to remain close to Him; He was and is my hiding place, my solid rock and sure foundation. When everything just seemed to fall apart, all I could hear Him say was ‘be still, and know that I am God’.

I Let go of all I had Planned

One of my favourite lines in the song is, “I let go of all I had planned”. He has a good plan for each of our lives and I know that His plans and His ways are always better than our own (Jeremiah 29:11). He leads us one step at a time - "Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105).

I have learnt that no matter what, God always ‘works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose’ (Romans 8:28). He is faithful in every way. If one door closes, He opens a new and better one - a door of victory.

Out of God's love and grace, He was lovingly pushing me into my purpose. When nothing seemed to work, God remained there by my side and I had to allow Him to lead, guide and direct my steps.

- Colossians 3:15 (AMP) -

"Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]."

I realised that if I continued to make my own plans and do things my own way, I would be eventually become very miserable. It was evident for a time that I lacked the true peace of God.

The Archbishop Dr Costakis Evangelou MBE often says, ‘if you did what you did, your gonna get what you got.' That has always stuck with me and I knew that something had to change in order for my peace to finally return.

- Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) -

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

As I began to surrender and seek God with my whole heart through prayer, fasting and spending time with Him in His Word (renewing my mind to God's Word daily), I could see hope for my future (Jeremiah 29:11). I looked back at a photograph I had taken of the clouds, where God had hand-written the number 57 in the sky - Psalm 57:7-11: "Sing and make melody…I will sing praises to You among the nations…Your truth and faithfulness to the clouds."

‘Righteous Right Hand’ is a song of surrender - "Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me (Matthew 16:24)". Walking in God's promises requires us to follow where He is leading us along the narrow path which leads to life. As I openly declare in this song, ‘I let go of all I had planned' (my will and my way) and ‘I surrender' all to Him (His will and His way).

Let us renew our minds daily to the Word of God and surrender every part of our lives and being to Him, offering ourselves as a living sacrifice. This way, we can allow God to reveal to us, show us and lead us to where we need to be, where we need to go and exactly what we need to do (one step at a time), for His glory and for the extension of His Kingdom. Amen!

Be blessed x

LYRICS

This tide, this war

Overwhelms my soul

It rages on, rages on

Unending Grace, Your Unfailing Love

Took all my wrong, You said it’s gone

My mind, be still

My heart, be filled

With all that You have called me to

Oh, Uphold me with Your Righteous Right Hand

Oh, Be the Light unto this narrow path

Be still, Be filled with all that He has willed

I let go of all I had planned (Your will, Yahweh)

Oh, You Uphold me with Your Righteous Right Hand

My Saviour

Press in, press on

Towards the Sun

My hiding place, My secret place

You rose so I could rise above

I got back up, because You got back up

Your Sword and Shield, they strengthen me

Your precious blood it covers me

Oh, Uphold me with Your Righteous Right Hand

Oh, Be the Light unto this narrow path

Be still, Be filled with all that He has willed

I let go of all I had planned (Your will, Yahweh)

Oh, You Uphold me with Your Righteous Right Hand

My Saviour

Take over

My Saviour

I surrender all to You

Take over

Redeemer

I surrender all to You
